dandelion flower essence
I recently made a flower essence from a surprise dandelion plant that started growing in my compost pot!
The plant and mineral kingdom are amazing. The natural world is truly so magical.
Sometime last year, I saw some green begin to pop out in the brown soil of my compost pot. I didn’t think anything of it at first until I started to recognize the leaves!
Dandelion has always been a beloved friend of mine ever since I started my ayurvedic practice in 2017. I learned that this pesky weed my grandfather is always trying to kill in his yard is actually an edible and medicinal plant! AND God sets it up to where an ABUNDANCE of dandelions bloom during Spring which is DETOX season! Amazing!
It wasn’t until 2021 when I began using flower essences during my pregnancy that I learned that flowers offer us an etheric medicine as well.
When Dandelion popped up and began to grow out of nowhere during a life-shaking transition, I knew that it was Divine Alignment that was showing up for me.
The dandelion began to grow and grow and when I moved into my new apartment, the yellow blooms showed up. The timing of the appearance of the blooms, felt like a very specific messenger that was specifically custom made for me, though I didn’t even know that I needed dandelion medicine!
During one of my darkest moments, the flowers of the dandelion plant communicated to me brightness, cheer, sunshine, and thriving and tenacity. Dandelions are hard to get rid of. I love that about their medicine. The detox nature of the plant is a good indicator that dandelions are workers for cleansing, purging, and clarifying. The personality of the dandelion spirit comes through as a friend that is really consistent, but they preserve their energy really well.
From what I’ve observed from spending time with dandelion growing on my balcony is that the lifecycle of the flower itself is really short. Some days when the yellow petals show up after being a green ball for a while, the petals would open all the way up about an hour or so after sunrise and will close itself a few hours before sundown. There have been times where I’d see the petals about to open before work, but miss out on the full bloom because I was at work all day. I’ve even seen the process of when the yellow flower closes and turns into what me and my son call a “Wish”. That’s when the flowers turn into the seeds that you blow on and make a wish! Duhhh lol
I made the dandelion essence this weekend under the portal of the Gemini New Moon. I charged the dandelion flower with a song as created the essence in ceremony, playing “Happy Like You” by Empire of the Sun. I love this song because it’s so positively charged and speaks about the wonderfulness that is the Divine Source, God. Also, flowers and plants are so happy, like I was telling the spirit of the flower, show me how to happy like you!
The dandelion plant growing out of my compost pot also adds more magic to the flower and it’s medicine. It symbolizes the good coming out of the darkness and what what is seemingly considered waste or trash. It symbolizes transformation and transmutation.
